Build Your Own EFHW 49:1 Unun
As part of the NFARL Antenna Opportunity Project 2026, we're hosting a hands-on antenna component workshop. The Antenna Opportunity Project is our structured club initiative to maximize station performance through site surveys, antenna consulting, hands-on builds, and Elmer-assisted installations.
Join us to build, test, and certify your own End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW) 49:1 unun, housed in a durable, outdoor-mountable 4 x 4 x 2 inch weatherproof enclosure. It doesn't matter whether you're an experienced builder or tackling your very first kit. Club Elmers will be on hand to guide you every step of the way.
The workshop and the Antenna Opportunity Project are open to just club members.
What to Expect
- Complete Build Kit: All the toroids, wire, connectors, hardware, and pre-drilled enclosures, supplied through our bulk kit order.
- Instruction & Mentorship: Step-by-step assembly guides, video walkthroughs, and one-on-one help from club Elmers.
- On-Site Certification: Before you leave, we'll help you test and certify your finished unun, so it's ready for your shack or the field.
What to Bring
- Your tool bag: If you have one, bring a small tool bag with a soldering iron, wire strippers, flush cutters, screwdrivers, and nut drivers.
- No tools? No problem: NFARL club tool kits will be available on-site to share.
