ISS Station Tracker is Changing
There is now an app for that. NASA has announced that starting June 12th, the email notifications will be discontinued. Never fear, there is a great phone app available for both Android and Apple phones. Here’s a picture of the app running. Features: 1 -The upper left box tells you the next visible event. 2 – You can receive text messages of the same. 3 – The coolest feature is the globe thing. The NFARL Amateur Radio Emergency Service meeting was held outdoors on the second Tuesday. The topic was Go Bags – homemade portable kits that will support operation away from any supportive infrastructure. Abby, KQ4JEU displayed her kit contained in a waterproof portable box. It was complete with battery and charging system, an Icom 7100, and Baofeng handhelds. It had detachable front controllers for the HF and VHF for easy access. On May 10th NFARL celebrated the USI One-Day-Getaway contest event and held our annual picnic at the West Bank Park, Lake Lanier, GA. Many of the usual characters were present and brought their famous and delicious dishes for a most enjoyable picnic. A few of us launched multiple antennas with serious slingshots. Bill Cassanova used his Sling Shot Arborist Throwline Launcher with Trigger and overshot the target. Members of the North Fulton Amateur Radio League join the Scott Straw family to honor the recent passing of his wife Eileen Jones Straw. We send our heartfelt condolences for their loss, and we ask our members to remember Scott and his family with their prayers and support. The memorial services were held May 8th in the Chapel at the Roswell United Methodist Church and several Club members were in attendance.
