NFARL Board Member Elections

This October meeting is one of the two NFARL regular meetings at which business is typically conducted. The evening will begin with the annual election of club officers.

Your Vote is Important! The club's leadership for the coming year will be determined through this election.

  • The Nominating Committee's recommendations will be read to the general membership.
  • Additional nominations from the floor will be accepted and placed onto the ballot.
  • The election for each office will then be voted upon.

We urge all members in good standing to attend and participate in this crucial part of the club's business.

Featured Presentation: High Flying Ham Radio

Following the elections, join us for a fascinating presentation by Jack McElroy, KM4ZIA.

Jack is a high school senior who has been active in amateur radio for over a decade. He focuses on bridging the gap between ham radio and youth engagement through interactive, STEM-oriented activities.

Presentation Topic: High Flying Ham Radio

The presentation, titled "High Flying Ham Radio", will discuss the fundamentals of using both:

  • Superpressure picoballoons
  • Latex balloons

...in conjunction with ham radio beacons.

Jack will also connect this technical work with his efforts to bring more youth into the hobby. This includes his leadership role and successful balloon launches at the 2025 Youth On The Air (YOTA) Camp in Denver, Colorado.

At the YOTA camp, Jack partnered with Edge of Space Sciences to launch a high-altitude balloon and two picoballoons. The picoballoons were launched with the goal of hopefully circumnavigating the Earth.

Come learn how amateur radio is reaching the edge of space!
