[Update]: Pinecrest Academy is Ready for ARISS!

We're so proud of the students at Pinecrest Academy! High school students Sam Ansley and Henry Schafer of the amateur radio club recently showcased their skills, making successful contacts at the ARRL Field Day. The entire school is now taking amateur radio to the next level with a special event: an ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) contact with the ISS!

This school-wide event will allow multiple selected students to communicate directly with an astronaut. The contact is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30th, at 11:15 AM EDT.

It’s a testament to the students' dedication to amateur radio.

The North Fulton Amateur Radio League (NFARL) is thrilled to serve as technical mentors, helping set up the gear for this incredible opportunity. A huge thank you to Daryl Young for spearheading this effort on the NFARL side.

Don't miss it! You can watch the live stream of the contact on YouTube. Stay tuned...

The atmosphere was electric, and the students who participated had a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience communicating directly with an astronaut aboard the International Space Station.

The success of this monumental effort is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Pinecrest students and faculty, as well as the many volunteers from the North Fulton Amateur Radio League (NFARL) who served as technical mentors and support staff.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the NFARL members who dedicated their time and expertise to making this contact a reality, including: Lee N4NYE, Dave KO4USA, Wes W3WL, and John Norris AA4AN, to mention just a few of the many involved. Your commitment is what makes events like this possible!
