NFARL Volunteers Aid Sandy Springs Police on Last 4th of July

On the last 4th of July, the North Fulton Amateur Radio Emergency Service (NF ARES) provided crucial communication assistance to the Sandy Springs Police Department during the city's Live Music and Fireworks Display. The event, which drew an estimated eight thousand attendees, was well-organized and featured a strong police presence.

NFARL volunteers played a role in ensuring smooth operations. A police briefing before the event emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance due to current world events, urging everyone to report any safety concerns immediately.

During the fireworks display, the loud booms from the 1,170 tubes of fireworks even triggered many police vehicle horns. Despite this, the bursting rockets captivated the crowd, and the weather remained pleasant.

The dedicated NFARL participants who volunteered their time and expertise were:

  • Bill Cassanova (N4BTB)
  • Wes Lamboley (W3WL)
  • Grant Register (KK4PRC)
  • Renee Taylor (KR4BHV)
  • Lee Johnson (N4WYE)
  • Mike Cohen (AD4MC)

The North Fulton Amateur Radio Emergency Service (NF ARES) frequently lends its support to these types of community events and emergency preparedness efforts. Their mission is to provide vital communication services when traditional systems may fail, ensuring public safety and efficient coordination during incidents ranging from large-scale public gatherings to natural disasters. This continuous involvement highlights the critical role amateur radio operators play in local emergency response.

If you are a licensed amateur radio operator and are looking for a meaningful way to contribute to your community, NF ARES invites you to become more active.
