Unveiling the World of Software Defined Radios (SDRs)
Lee Johnson from NFARL delivered an incredibly insightful presentation on Software Defined Radios. Lee took us on a journey through the evolution of SDRs, from their origins in 1970s government research to their widespread adoption in modern technology.
He explained how SDRs revolutionize radio by replacing traditional hardware components with flexible software, offering immense benefits in adaptability and cost-efficiency. Lee also explored modern SDR platforms like the Hermes-Lite 2 and Thetis software, highlighting how SDRs are transforming various fields, including telecommunications (4G, 5G, 6G), emergency services, space communication, amateur radio, and the Internet of Things. This presentation truly emphasized why SDR literacy is becoming an essential skill for today's radio enthusiasts.
We hope you enjoy catching up on the meeting's highlights. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
