Get ready for an exciting and practical workshop! We'll be building a handy Dummy Load Wattmeter on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Preston Ridge Community Center, located at:
3655 Preston Ridge Road Suite 100 Alpharetta, GA 30005
Have you ever wanted an easy-to-build, low-cost dummy load wattmeter that can handle up to 150 Watts across a wide range of frequencies? This is your chance! We'll be following the roadmap provided by Bob Fontan's article in the February 2025 QST. NFARL has assembled the Bill of Materials (BOM) and is offering a kit for you to build.
Important: We only have 25 kits available, so don't delay! Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Head over to the NFARL Mart now to secure your kit and spot in the workshop!
What to bring to the workshop:
- Soldering iron
- Solder
- Diagonal cutters
- Needle nose pliers
- Small Phillips and flat screwdrivers
- Safety glasses
We will also have a few of the club toolkits available, but bringing your own ensures you'll have what you need.
During the workshop, as the kits are completed, we will load the firmware (including your callsign), test, and calibrate your new dummy load wattmeter.
Don't miss this opportunity to build a valuable piece of test equipment for your shack, click the button below to head our to our mart to buy this Dummy load wattmeter!
We look forward to seeing you there!
Excellent project, and so much fun too!
I want to thank everyone who contributed to setting up this project at NFARL. From the sourcing, planning, and execution of the project, it made it so enjoyable. It was an interesting project that culminated in an easy-to-use dummy watt meter and cleared out some skill cobwebs in the process.
I look forward to other such projects!
Regards,
Jim, W4IU
Purchased a kit, but is there an instruction sheet for it? It doesn't look much like the one in the QST article.
Hi Randy, on the kit page in the mart, you have several links which include instructions, and the firmware code. 73.
