NFARL Island Picnic & USI 1DG– Join Us on May 10th!
NFARL is keeping the tradition going with our annual picnic and on-the-air fun at Lake Lanier!
We’re once again participating in the U.S. Islands Awards Program—a unique amateur radio program that celebrates activating and chasing river, lake, and ocean shore islands across the U.S. It’s a fun and affordable way to go on a mini-DXpedition without traveling far from home.
Each year, U.S. Islands hosts two major events: the One-Day Getaway (1DG) and the W/VE Island QSO Party. Thanks to club member Terry Joiner (W4YBV), NFARL has been a proud participant in both.
To celebrate the One-Day Getaway, we’re heading to West Bank Park on Lake Lanier for a full day of food, radio, and outdoor fun.
🗓 Date: Saturday, May 10, 2025
📍 Location: Shelter #SL08203, West Bank Park, Lake Sidney Lanier, Cumming, GA
⏰ Time: Setup begins before 8:00 AM – we’ll be there all day!
💵 Park Entry Fee: $5 per vehicle
What’s Happening:

HF and VHF radio operations from the island
- Show off your portable gear

And plenty of social time under the shelter
Food: NFARL will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, and all the fixings.
