April is usually a busy month. April 2025 has been no exception to this pattern. Georgia State POTA, GA QSO Party, CPO Kit building at Kittredge Magnet School, among a number of other detail level tasks to prepare for Field Day, a potential school age radio license camp and the US Islands 1-Day Getaway.
Speaking of the US Island 1DG, one thing we hope to accomplish this year is to make more Q’s than 2024. If you remember, last year we experienced a major solar event which basically limited RF communications in the amateur bands where we made less than a dozen contacts. This year we’re hoping conditions are much better. Another thing we’ll be doing is giving the FTDX10s a run down trial. If you’re planning to help out at GOTA or SSB Field Day stations this year and you’re unfamiliar with the FTDX10 this is a chance for you to try one out. If you’re interested in participating in the 1 Day Getaway, please sign up by clicking here.
We are considering a “refresh” of the Monday evening Tech Talk net. One goal is to get more folks to try their hand at Net Control. If you’re interested in trying one or more sessions as the NCS, please contact Steve, KO4VW or Mike, KN4OAK and make arrangements to do so. Another option we’re considering involves “guest speakers”. To make this into a reality, we’d like to get a preferred list of topics / subjects put together so we can search for the appropriate knowledge matter experts. Help us out by dropping a note to Mike ASAP using this link. or Steve on topics you’d be interested in exploring.
Wes W3WL AND Dave KO4USA are working to refresh the club membership database. Please take a minute and review your information on the website to ensure it is up to date. Once the refresh has been made, we will invest some time in making member access to contact information easier. Contact Wes and or Dave with any questions or concerns.
