We're excited to feature one of our newer members, Don, who will be sharing his incredible journey into the world of Amateur Radio. Since retiring from the construction industry and jumping into ham radio, Don's enthusiasm has been infectious!
Think getting licensed is a long process? Think again! Don earned his Technician license in February 2024, upgraded to General in March, and achieved his Extra Class license by August 2024! In just a few short months, he went from zero to Extra – an amazing accomplishment!
Since then, Don has enthusiastically embraced many aspects of our hobby. He's exploring different operating modes, chasing DX, activating Parks on the Air (POTA), and has even put together a complete vintage Heathkit station. It's clear Don has quickly developed a great handle on the operational, technical, and educational sides of ham radio.
Come hear directly from Don about his experiences, the learning process, and what drives his passion for the hobby. His eagerness is sure to be evident, and his story is bound to be motivating for both new hams and seasoned veterans alike.
