NFARL Web Site Purposes

The purposes of the NFARL web site are to:

Promote amateur radio
Promote the North Fulton Amateur Radio League
Communicate information about upcoming NFARL activities
Be a repository for amateur radio related resources for NFARL members and the ham radio community
Provide commercial tools for NFARL transactions such as joining, renewing memberships, registering for classes and activities, and purchasing merchandise.
Provide reporting for the NFARL Management Team. The reports are membership and activity based and do not include financial reporting beyond the commercial transactions.

Web Site Hosting

The NFARL web sites are hosted by HostGator.com based in Houston Texas. The sites were moved to HostGator in 2008. HostGator's service and support have been outstanding. We are not aware of any service outages in 2017 or 2018.

Web Site Technologies

nfarl.org

Pages in the main NFARL web site (black background) are hand crafted in Adobe's Dreamweaver. A few pages have PHP program scripts embedded in order to provide special functionality. Examples include the contact form on our contact page and the database extract that creates our member list.
Mart pages (nfarl.org/mart) are built using Drupal and Ubercart.

The Drupal & Ubercart functionality was added in 2008 when the club began to outgrow N4CLA's ability to manually keep track of membership, billing, and eNews mailing.
Drupal is an open source content management platform.
Ubercart is an open source e-commerce shopping cart that integrates with Drupal.

eNews editions are emailed using PHPList, an open source software product for managing mailing lists. PHPList is coupled with Drupal to enable Mart members to opt in or out of our eNews mailings.

nfares.org is built in Drupal.
hamjam.info is hand crafted in Dreamweaver.
