2008 Christmas Party
It was great to see 85 festive hams gathered at the Southern Skillet December 16 for a wonderful celebration of the Christmas season and a successful year in ham radio.
The party's theme was "country hams", and the pictures to the right confirm that most dressed the part. Click here to see more pictures of the event.
After lots of visiting & eating (the feast put out by Southern Skillet was delicious), head snake charmer Jim, W4QO called the assemblage to order. After a few introductory remarks, he recognized recipients of the Hams Helping Hams award. These went to club members who during 2008 helped at field day, JOTA, antenna building parties, antenna raising parties, hamcram sessions, VE activites, mentoring of new hams, nets, hungry hams, mid-month madness, and the many other ways members find to contribute to making our club successful. Members that were recognized include:
Congratulate them the next time you see them. (If you are listed and were not there, Jim has your award and will get it to you soon.)
Jim also announced the 2008 Ham of the Year - Bill Cobb, K4YJJ - our webmaster!
Incoming President Mack, W4AX presented Jim with a beautiful crystal globe award from the club, recognizing Jim's leadership over the past two years.
We hope you have the happiest of holidays -- and we look forward to spending time with all of you in 2009.
