Satellites in the Park

Satellites in the Park

Thanks so very much to everyone who came and participated! Your help and presence really made it a day to remember - from young to old!

It was truly a fabulous time in spite of the heat. The shade from the trees was really appreciated, although they did block the beginning and end of the passes.

Thanks to everyone to contributed to the day. Daryl Young got his fabulous and complicated set-up working, and we all heard him make some contacts. Johnny Kludt was very busy helping newbies put antennas together, and answering countless questions. Eddie Thompson brought his set-up with its home-made "actuator / positioner" -- it was really something to see in action. Barbara Carlson, KN4HER brought her tape measure antenna, and heard folks working the 2 FM satellites. Photographers Terry Joyner, Scott Banks, Steve Mays and Mike Riley recorded the event for us.

I hope everyone who attended took away something useful.

Keep your eyes on the reflector for another satellite activity. We will use what we learned from this event to make the next even better!

Thanks again everyone, and 73,

Bob Hensey, K4VBM (Very Bad Memory); 2019 NFARL Activities Chair

PS from Brian Cleary, K4BBL: Really had fun at the event today. I shot a video for my Youtube channel, Ham Radio in Action. It is available here: https://youtu.be/BTQT8b4x2cQ. Thanks to Bob for setting up the event, and for everyone who let me video them.
