Field Day 2009 Preparations
Looking for information on Field Day 2010? The Field Day team, under the direction of Field Day Captain Ian - AK4IK, is hard at work developing plans for this year. Check with him at ak4ik@nfarl.org if you would like to volunteer. In 2010, Field Day is on June 26 - 27.
NFARL is very active during Field Day which is held the last full weekend of June each year. In 2009, Field Day will be held June 27 - 28.
ARRL's 2009 Field Day announcement has been released and is available on the ARRL web site.
The primary purposes of the event are to practice emergency communications skills and demonstrate ham radio to the public. "We're very excited about giving the community a glimpse into this amazing technology," says NFARL Field Day Chair Ian Kahn, AK4IK. "Without plugging into the energy grid, we'll use batteries, generators, and solar technology to power our equipment and connect with people all over the world."
If you've ever wondered how you could communicate without your home phone, cell phone, internet -- or if you think it would be fun to reach out and connect with others around the world -- the North Fulton Amateur Radio League would like you to join them at Field Day, an exciting 24-hour event and the premier operating event for U. S. based ham radio operators.
Activities will take place at Waller Park Extension on Dobbs Road in Roswell from 2:00 PM on Saturday June 27 until 2:00 PM Sunday the 28th.
Talk-in to the site will be on 147.06 + (600k) with 100 Hz tone.
