Field Day Bulletin #8

Things are Finally Coming Together ...

June 22, 2008

We had a very productive meeting today at the Field Day site.  Things are finally coming together.  We're finalizing where the stations are going, what equipment and antennas we're using, etc.

And our publicity efforts are paying off.  We were featured in a great write-up in today's AJC by David Pendered, and this article will be followed up with another this coming Friday.  I'll let everyone know where to look for that one when I have the information.  I got an email this evening from an acquaintance asking for more information about the article.  Hopefully he and his wife will stop by our site.

There are still a few outstanding items / slots we need filled.  Here is what we need most:

Please let me know via email (ak4ik@nfarl.org) if you can help us with any of the items listed above.

One last key item we need is RSVPs for food.  If you intend to join us for dinner Saturday evening, please RSVP to Lynn Kahn, KJ4DYH, at kj4dyh@nfarl.org.  Please also RSVP to Lynn if you plan to be at the site for breakfast Sunday morning (8:00 AM).  Marilyn Stafford is making a breakfast casserole and needs to know how much food to make.  We need all RSVPs in by Wednesday, June 25 so we can purchase enough food.

Also, please don't forget the attendance incentive for this year's Field Day.  Anyone who attends Field Day, signs in, and works at least 1 QSO can enter our raffle for a $100 HRO gift certificate.  There is no monetary cost to enter the raffle, just the above mentioned qualifications.  And, your executive committee and Field Day chairs are not eligible for the prize.  That means 9 fewer people are in the running.  So please come by, sign in, and work a QSO.  It might be worth $100 to you.

That's all for now.  Have a great week, and we'll see everyone Saturday, 28 June.

73,

Ian, AK4IK
