HR 1301 - The Amateur Radio Parity Act of 2015

The Amateur Radio Parity Act of 2015 -- H.R.1301 -- has been introduced in the US House of Representatives. The bill is the same bill as HR-4969, which was introduced late in the 113th Congressional session.

The measure would direct the FCC to extend its rules relating to reasonable accommodation of Amateur Service communications to private land use restrictions. US Rep Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) introduced the bill on March 4 with 12 original co-sponsors from both sides of the aisle -- seven Republicans and five Democrats.

Intensive efforts by the ham radio community last year gathered 69 co-sponsors before the session ended, more than twice the number expected.

Last year's success was due to the large grassroots efforts locally in the Congressional Districts.  The ham radio community needs to do the same this year to maintain support in the House and generate interest for a companion Senate bill.

We are looking for NFARL members who have access to their Congressional representatives and U.S. Senators, and we are beginning again the letter writing campaign that proved successful last year.

Here are links to two sample letters to your Congressional Representative suggesting that he or she support HR 1301 and become a co-sponsor of this legislation.

Additionally, here is a link to a Fact Sheet with more details about HR 1301.

Your Board supports HR 1301 and each member has been tasked with sending a copy of the letter to Representative Price.

We hope that you will consider letting Representative Price know that you also support the legislation and will download, customize, print, sign, and deliver your the letter to a Board Member.  Board Members will hand deliver your letter to Representative Price.
